Most “best forex broker” lists quietly answer a question nobody asked: what is the single best broker in the world? There isn’t one. The broker a scalper wants — raw ECN spreads, $3.50 a lot, sub-30ms fills — is the wrong broker for someone opening their first demo account, and irrelevant to a business that just needs to get paid in eleven currencies. So this finder does something narrower and more useful: it matches the broker to you.
Two things up front. First, we don’t earn a commission on the biggest names in the industry, and we’ll still tell you when they’re the right answer. IG, Saxo and CMC Markets are, on the published evidence, the category leaders for regulation, instrument range and research in 2026, and IC Markets is the reference point for raw ECN spreads. We cover them editorially and link you straight to their reviews — IG, Saxo, CMC Markets and IC Markets — with no middleman. Where our recommendations are paid links is a tighter set: Pepperstone, Eightcap and Vantage for live forex/CFD accounts, Bybit and Nexo for crypto, Airwallex for business FX, and 365 Financial for learning the analysis first. We always mark which is which, right next to the button.
Second, this is a matcher, not a promise. Trading CFDs and leveraged forex is genuinely risky — under the EU’s ESMA regime, national regulators found that 74–89% of retail CFD accounts lose money. Retail leverage on major currency pairs is capped at 30:1 (and on crypto CFDs at just 2:1) across the EEA (including Norway) and the UK, with negative-balance protection and a standardised risk warning. Offshore entities may advertise 500:1 — that headline number is a risk multiplier, not a feature, and it usually means you’ve stepped outside those retail protections. The finder factors your region into what it shows you.
Best brokers by need — who actually wins for whom
- Deepest, most-trusted all-rounder: the honest leaders are IG, Saxo and CMC Markets (editorial). The broker we can send you to is Eightcap — MT4, MT5 and native TradingView at a $100 minimum, multi-entity regulated (ASIC, FCA, CySEC for the EEA).
- Cost is everything (scalping, high volume): IC Markets is the editorial benchmark; Pepperstone is our wired pick — Razor raw spreads from 0.0 pips + $3.50/side, $0 minimum, cTrader + MT4/MT5 + TradingView.
- Outside the EEA/UK, offshore ECN + higher leverage: Vantage — but only if you’re genuinely outside the EEA/UK. It has no EU/CySEC entity, so for EEA visitors it’s offshore and our link routes you to a regulated alternative instead.
- Brand new, learning first: XTB and eToro lead on beginner education (editorial). Learn the analysis first with 365 Financial, then practise on a free demo before going live.
- Copy or follow other traders: eToro is the editorial benchmark; among brokers we can send you to, Bybit offers copy trading on crypto.
- Trade crypto: Bybit for active trading; Nexo to hold, earn or borrow rather than day-trade. Crypto is highly volatile and largely unregulated — capital at risk.
- A business, not a speculator: Airwallex — hold, convert and get paid in 60+ currencies. Business FX and payments, not leveraged CFDs.
